Job Description
JOB DESCRPITION: Development AssociateThe Development Associate plays a vital role in all aspects of fundraising, affiliate events and development programs.  The position is to assist the Development Director in fulfilling short and long term goals guided by the strategic plan which is consistent with the organization’s mission, promise and overall goals.  In addition, the development associate will assist in creating, implementing and overseeing third party development initiatives. 
 
Reports to:  Development Director
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Full-Time – FLSA; Non-Exempt
Travel: 25% (mostly within service area)
 
Core Responsibilities:
 
3rd party Promotions:
  • Organize, plan and execute 3rd party promotions while continuing to build diversity of county representation 
  • Monitor monthly financial reporting and budget
  • Lead manager for DIY and 3rd party fundraisers
 
Affiliate Event Planning:
  • Assist in planning and execution of all affiliate events in coordination with the Events Coordinator
  • Ensure events are staffed appropriately and ensure sustainability among committees
  • Manage sponsorships through cultivation and stewardship of relationships
  • Create website event pages, content and communications via social media channels
  • Lead for Dine Out, Brunch For the Cure, Rally for the Cure, Pink Tie Guys and national cause related marketing partners
 
Donor/Sponsor/Partner Management:
  • Assist in managing relationship & cultivation of current and prospective donors, sponsors & partners
  • Conduct research, analyze data and compile reports for stewardship & cultivation of donors
  • Manage donor database/lists and mailing materials
  • Oversee acknowledgments for sponsors, 3rd party, vendors and in-kind documentation
  • Ensure all partnership information is current via donor management system
  • Work with all constituent groups including leadership, staff, volunteers, donors, partners and others

Administration

  • Responsive to emails, phone calls from internal and external partners
  • Proficient in Microsoft 2013, including Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher
  • Experience with Salesforce and Convio preferred
 
Collaboration:
  • Initiate and encourages collaboration among team members, partners and donors
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop communication and engagement strategies for third party initiatives
  • Work closely with marketing to ensure consistent communications across all mediums
  • On-going communication and dialog with Komen Headquarters
Key Characteristics:
  • Experience in donor development
  • Confident communicator and presenter, strong communications skills
  • Ability to think creatively, innovatively; strong idea generator
  • Well organized, ability to manage multiple tasks on tight deadlines with a great attention to detail
  • Strong problem solving, priority-setting and decision-making skills.
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-3 years of event planning, development fundraising experience preferred.
  • Attend all affiliate led events and committee meetings (nights & some weekends required)
  • The ideal candidate must be comfortable making donation solicitations to donors, corporate sponsors, partners and vendors
Candidate will also possess:
  • A strong commitment to Komen Austin’s vision and mission.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills, ability to speak and present to groups and the public
  • Clear communicator; ability to socialize with a variety of audiences
  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Spanish speaking a plus
Travel, evening and weekend work required.
