Job Description
Job Opening: Development Associate
The SIMS Foundation provides mental health and addiction recovery services to Austin musicians, music industry professionals, and their families. The Development Associate assists in all aspects of fund development to secure resources needed to sustain program activities and achieve organizational goals.
Job Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of annual fund development plan
  • Assist the Executive Director in the design and production of all special event s, including the annual Heart of the City event
  • Assist the Marketing Associate with occasional coverage of 3rd party events
  • Assist in sponsorship solicitation and securing in-kind donations
  • Maintain foundation, corporation, and individual donor files
  • Prepare timely acknowledgment letters and other correspondence
  • Contribute to the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of online and direct mail appeals
  • Conduct prospect research and cultivate donors through regular communications
  • Maintain grant calendar and conduct grant research
  • Contribute to the preparation  of grant communications materials, proposals and reports
  • Maintain donor database, list management and produce reports on donor data as needed
  • Fulfill moves management from prospect to completion of gratitude cycle for each donation
  • Build and maintain relationships donors, vendors, and partner organizations
  • Participate in relevant community events to meet and engage prospective donors, and steward existing donors.
  • Adhere to the Practice Guide for the Development Associate position
  • Commitment to the mission of the SIMS Foundation
  • A Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field
  • Minimum 3 years work experience in fundraising, event production, marketing, communications, or related position
  • Demonstrated skill in fundraising and event management
  • Available to work irregular night and weekend events
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Word Press
  • Demonstrated skill in project management
  • Disciplined organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
Scope of the position
Exempt, full-time, with health, dental, and vision benefits. Reports to the Executive Director. Salary range $42,000-$50,000.
